Über dieses Werk

A boy stands ankle deep in still ocean while a moon far too large for any real sky sits on the horizon behind him, its light laid flat across the water toward his feet.

The moon is wrong on purpose. At true scale the image says nothing; at this scale it says exactly what being small in front of something enormous feels like, which is the only reason anyone stands at the edge of the sea at night.

He has his back to us and no face, so he can be anyone's child or anyone's memory of being one. The light path running from the moon to where he stands was the last thing placed, and it is what turns a scene into an invitation.
