À propos de cette œuvre
A single seam of gold runs down a wall of cracked white plaster, and in the negative space where the plaster has fallen away a figure appears without ever being drawn.
Kintsugi repairs broken pottery with gold instead of hiding the join, treating the break as part of the history rather than a flaw to conceal. That idea needed no illustration, only a surface and a fracture, so that is all this is.
Everything here was kept down to two materials and two colours. It is the most restrained piece in the collection and the easiest to place: white and gold argue with nothing, and the composition reads clearly from the far side of a room.
